"How to Manage a Business that Does Good” is a guidebook for social entrepreneurs to help them deepen their business and social impact.

BPI Foundation, the social development arm of BPI, in collaboration with Bayan Academy, recently launched its second book, titled "How to Manage a Business that Does Good," which aims to provide social entrepreneurs (SEs) and professionals with insights, strategies, and tools to help enable their businesses and communities to thrive.

The book is a compilation of case studies of 13 alumni of BPI Sinag, a flagship program of BPI Foundation which aims to nurture, develop, and empower SEs. It also includes frameworks, practical tips, and step-by-step guides for entrepreneurs embarking on or continuing a purposeful journey towards sustainable economic and social impact.

"It is a thoughtful, comprehensive book based on the various experiences of our Sinag SEs who have gone through their highs and lows while maintaining their social aims. We have distilled many valuable lessons in the form of case studies into this book, and

"Doing well by doing good has become an economic and social imperative, most especially during this ongoing pandemic," said BPI Foundation Executive Director Owen Cammayo. "We hope they will inspire and educate readers and keep them on the right path towards social entrepreneurship," Cammayo added.

In addition, the book includes chapters on how to be responsive to the business's social mission through various management functions such as finance, marketing, and business operations, among others. Also infused in the book are tips on how to utilize funds and measure the impact that is being delivered by the SEs.

The book was officially launched during the 2021 Philippine Social Entrepreneurship Summit, a two-day virtual conference organized by BPI Foundation and Bayan Academy, which gathered over 1,200 social entrepreneurs and representatives from various development sectors such as cooperatives, development organizations, academe, as well as government and corporate social responsibility organizations across the Philippines.

In 2019, BPI Foundation and Bayan Academy published the first Sinag book titled "Technology, Social and Market Innovations in Social Enterprises: The BPI Sinag Accelerate Initiative”, authored by Dr. Eduardo A. Morato, the late social entrepreneurship guru in the Philippines. The first book features case studies of 15 BPI Sinag awardees who have learned valuable lessons that others can benefit from.
